Very long article. Too long to c&p the whole thing. Delete if already done.

To deny West Ham's move to the London Stadium is causing serious problems is laughable... Lord Sugar would have fired Karren Brady by now

By OLIVER HOLT FOR THE MAIL ON SUNDAY

In the Comical Ali world of West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady, the club’s move from Upton Park to the former Olympic Stadium is one of the great success stories of modern times.

‘We’re now 20th in the Deloitte Money League,’ Brady told the Leaders Sport Business Summit in London earlier this month and, who knows, if she’d picked up all the coins hurled into the away end on Wednesday night and put them in the kitty, West Ham might even have climbed into the top 10.

So don’t sweat the small stuff. What’s that little eight-year-old girl who got pelted with small change during the EFL Cup tie against Chelsea moaning about? Crying kids are the face of the new West Ham, aren’t they? If the girl had anything about her, she’d use her fortuitous windfall to start her own business and apply for a spot on The Apprentice.

It is a good job Baroness Brady is the one tearing the poor candidates apart on that show because if she were on the other side of the process and she were being judged on the progress of West Ham’s move, she’d have had Lord Sugar’s finger pointing right at her by now.

The sports editor of the Mail is a spurs fan , it might have something to do will the anti West Ham crap that this rag publishes . Oh and no mention of the coins being thrown by Chelsea fans in the upper tier down on to West Ham fans below. Also if my kid was hit by a coin , you can guarantee that they wouldn't be hit by six more.

Holt was extremely opinionated during the "Tevezgate" witch hunt. It is quite obvious to me he is acting under instructions. It seems these anti West Ham bandwagons start up every so often and it is always the tame journalists who start it up.

Re: Brady gets a pasting in the Mail
Most of what he has written, especially about Brady is spot on.

She's effectively negotiated a deal that puts the club in a situation where it can be fined and even docked points for matters no longer under its control.

The three clowns thought they had pulled a fast one managing to screw the stadium owners into the ground and paying peanuts in rent.

Not looking so clever now is it.

Holt has always appeared to be anti West Ham but in this instance I happened to agree with pretty much everything he has said.

West Ham need to man up and take fucking responsibility for the shambles of the stadium.

They try at every opportunity to hide behind it being the stadium operators responsibility.....always someone else's fault, that's a West Ham mantra.

They paid fuck all for it and have tried to do everything on the cheap from the "retractable seating" bollocks tot the playing staff.

...We will still struggle to compete with the top 6 because G & S's millions are not billions

Exactly, I read today that Abramovich has spent over a billion since buying chelsea.

We can't hope to compete for a place in the top 5 without massive investment in the team.

Re: Brady gets a pasting in the Mail
Absolute tosh. Holt like most journos will write anything for attention. Thats his job.

The stadium needs some enhancements and will be fine. I loved UP but knew we had to move on to compete in a money driven game. Its all about money now. We will still struggle to compete with the top 6 because G & S's millions are not billions but at least we will not be left so far behind that we never have a chance in our life time to get one over the mega rich teams.

If you take the long term business view, Brady and G & S are doing what has to be done. I dont like some of it but accept the reality.

The stadium is much better than I was led to believe and I know it isnt't fashionable but I actually like it. My old grandad told me about the moves in the early part of the last century (Im old) and the same resistance by a few. I understand and respect their views but again longer term it will be seen to have been the right thing. The deal is sweet but we need to see the investment in the squad go up and we have not seen enough of that yet. But I'm patient and will give it a few seasons to happen as the revenue increases.

The mail and media appeal with the non-West Ham majority and know these stories will resonate with them and they hope it will result in some ignorant MP demanding we are thrown out. No intelligence or hard facts to any of it IMO but that has never got in the way of a good story.

Like the predicted post Brexit implosion, this will all be forgotten with a few alterations and more experience of hosting football in the stadium. As they used to say, this story will soon be "Tuesday's chip paper".

Fair play to Holt though, he can still hook a lot of fish with the eyewash he churns out under the heading of journalism :-)
